In 2005, Ian experienced the consequences of those sinkholes firsthand. That period reshaped how he approached risk, pricing, accountability and leadership. It became the foundation of what he now calls the Three Sinkholes in Business, the hidden commercial weaknesses that quietly undermine otherwise capable builders.

Today, he works with builders across the ACT and NSW to strengthen commercial discipline before problems escalate.

  • Ian’s career in construction began in 1979 as a carpenter and joiner in the Lower Blue Mountains. He qualified in 1984 while also working in land and engineering survey drafting, building both trade capability and technical understanding early.

    By 1985, he was running his own building business and he has remained in business ever since.

    Over more than 30 years, Ian has worked across:

    • Energy-efficient building product manufacturing and distribution

    • Bulk haulage operations across NSW and Victoria

    He understands construction from the ground up; trade, site, office and ownership.
